DeposiTR FAQ
Frequently asked questions concerning DeposiTR
Table of Contents
Q: Why am I unable to select a deposit method after entering a closing date?
A: If your closing date is less than 6 business days away, the deposit will not clear in time. To help ensure a smooth closing, DeposiTR will notify you of your options for submitting your earnest money deposit promptly and securely.
Valid options for submitting earnest money deposits through DeposiTR are 1) ACH for closings in six (6) days or later, and 2) ACH or RDC (scan check) for closings in eleven (11) days or later.
Q: What's the difference between eCheck and Remote Deposit Capture?
A: An eCheck, or electronic check, works just like a paper check—but it's processed digitally. You provide your bank routing and account numbers, authorize the payment, and the funds are securely debited from your account through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) network. It’s fast, safe, and eliminates the need to mail or hand-deliver a physical check.
RDC, or Remote Deposit Capture, allows you to deposit a check by taking a photo of it using DeposiTR's secure camera application. The image is securely transmitted to the bank, which processes it just like a physical check.
Q: Can I update incorrect information in the Transaction Information step of my earnest money deposit?
A: Yes. Any information displayed on the deposit Transaction Information page can be updated. If you change your email, you will be required to confirm the change before completing the deposit.
Q: Can I do a Remote Deposit Capture from a non-mobile device?
A: Yes. Any device with internet access can be used for deposits. Any device with a camera (phone, tablet, web camera) can be used to take a picture of physical checks, just make sure the check is clear/visible and lays flat on a dark background. If you have a picture of the check saved to your computer, it can be uploaded by using the ‘Upload File’ option (this option is only available for desktops).
Q: What is the difference between a Receipt Confirmation email and a Deposit Confirmation email?
A: The Receipt Confirmation email confirms that you’ve successfully submitted your earnest money to your Title Company. It also includes a copy of the agreements you acknowledged before submitting your deposit through DeposiTR.
Once your earnest money submission is received, the Title Company will review and approve the deposit. After approval, you’ll receive a Deposit Confirmation email, which confirms the Title Company’s acceptance and initiates the process of debiting the earnest money from your account.
Q: My realtor said my deposit was rejected. Will the processing fee be refunded?
A: If a deposit is rejected (i.e., not approved) for any reason, the processing fee will not be charged. DeposiTR only debits the customer’s account after the Title Company has reviewed and approved the deposit.
Q: Why does DeposiTR charge a service fee?
A: DeposiTR charges a small service fee for offering a convenient and time-saving way for consumers to securely submit their earnest money deposits to their Title Company.
